The Story Behind Our Champagne: Denis Salomon

At Sucré Salé, French products have always been at the heart of what we do. And sometimes, the best products come with a personal story. Our champagne from Denis Salomon is one of them.

Our relationship with Denis Salomon goes back years. Jean-Marc, one of the founders of Sucré Salé, met Nicolas, the owner behind Denis Salomon, in Champagne. What started as a meeting between two people with a shared appreciation for French food and wine developed into a long-standing relationship between Denis Salomon and our family at Sucré Salé.

Today, we are proud to have their champagne as part of our selection. We currently offer three different Denis Salomon champagnes, available at all three Sucré Salé shops.

Ma Vallée Éclairée

70% Pinot Meunier · 30% Chardonnay

Ma Vallée Éclairée is a blend of two grape varieties: Meunier and Chardonnay.

It is a remarkably light and elegant champagne. The Meunier gives it character, while the Chardonnay brings freshness and a beautiful finesse.

An approachable and refined champagne that works beautifully as an apéritif, alongside food, or simply when there is something to celebrate.

La Belle Année 2019 — Millésimé

8% Meunier · 50% Pinot Noir · 42% Chardonnay

La Belle Année 2019 brings together all three classic Champagne grape varieties: Meunier, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Only the first juices from the pressing are used to make this champagne, resulting in a more complex wine with a beautiful golden colour and elegant, softer bubbles.

As a millésimé, it is made from grapes harvested in a single year — 2019. Its complexity makes it an excellent champagne to enjoy throughout an entire meal.

Demi-Bouteille — 100% Meunier

We also offer a demi-bouteille made from 100% Meunier.

The half-bottle format is perfect for sharing between two, enjoying alongside lunch or dinner, or for those moments when a full bottle is simply a little too much.

Made entirely from Meunier, it is also a lovely way to discover the character of one of Champagne’s most important grape varieties.

A Relationship That Goes Beyond the Bottle

What makes Denis Salomon special to us is that there is a real relationship behind the bottles.

Over the years, Nicolas has visited the Netherlands several times, and whenever the opportunity arises, we organise a Champagne tasting together at Sucré Salé.

These evenings are all about discovering the champagnes, hearing the story behind the bottles and, most importantly, enjoying them together.

Nicolas isn't in the Netherlands every year, which makes these tastings a little more special when they do happen.

So if you would like to join us for the next Denis Salomon Champagne tasting, keep an eye on our social media. When Nicolas is back in the Netherlands, we’ll share all the details there.

In the meantime, Ma Vallée Éclairée, La Belle Année 2019 and our 100% Meunier demi-bouteille are available at all three Sucré Salé locations.

À votre santé! 🥂
